The church – Assemblies of God Church Felele started from Barrack in Felele Area in a shop. It was the missionary effort of Rev. J. A Odeleye, then a pastor of AG Apata branch. This was pioneered by Pastor Odebiyi as a missionary pastor in 1979. The church moved from the shop to a small poultry shed in Felele Rab. He pioneered the church for one year as a student pastor.
In 1980 Pastor Vincent A. Alaje – now the General Treasurer of the Assemblies of God took over where he complemented the effort of Pastor Odebiyi. He worked seriously and it was under him that the church became stabilized and expanded. He was able to construct a standard plank church.
He went further to purchase two plots of land at challenge area which ended up being a swamp but it is where the present CAC (WOSEM) is now located. Pastor Vincent Alaje was transferred in 1983 after spending 3 solid year on the mission work.
Pastor Adebiyi – now the District Treasurer in Osun District was posted to the church and he made every effort to balance the payment of the said land in order to commence the building of a befitting church. He discovered that the land was water logged and will cost a lot of money to fill it up with laterite. The church decided to collect their refund but every effort to retrieve the deposit proved abortive. He was on this when he was transferred after spending 4 solid years (1983-1987).
Pastor James Edivri (currently the District Superintendent in Oyo District and a member of the Executive committee in the General Council of the Assemblies of God Nigeria) was posted to the church, He concentrated his own mission work on the membership of the church and the spiritual growth of members. With his bike, he moved from one member’s house to another. He only stayed for 8 months before he was transferred under a controversial circumstance.
Rev. Peter Ameh (currently a member of the Oyo District Presbytery) was then transferred to Felele who eventually was one of the longest serving pastor of the church for 8 solid years who tirelessly retrieved the money from the owner of the other two plots we bought before. He made all the effort to purchase the land in Rab but the owner bluntly refused and that forced him to move to the land where the church is presented situated today. It was then a very tick bush with scanty houses in that area. He purchased the land, laid the foundation and started the construction to the roofing level also making the members to be totally committed to the building.
Rev. David Folorunsho Adisa (currently the Treasurer of the Oyo Northern Area) took over from him and became the first sectional leader of the Felele section. He continued from where Rev. Ameh left off completing the ceiling and plastering of the church. He was transferred after spending 5 years pastoring the church.
Rev. Samson A. Olubodun was transferred to head the church and the section which he did for only 3 months before he was called home to glory through a gasly motor accident. His response to all activities had always being “The Holy Spirit will do it”. At the point of his dead, his last message was “Who will take the mantle of Elijah?” For that short period of time, he brought great spiritual awakening to the church.
Evangelist Obe then the District Evangelist (now a member of the Oyo East District Presbytery) was drafted in as interim pastor for only 9 months. He was able to dynamically hold the church together and did not allow the death of the great man of God to scatter the church.
In 2001, this young dynamic, intelligent and administratively inclined man of God in person of Young Pastor Segun Fakolade (now the District Treasurer of the Oyo East District) was posted to the church working with all heart to make sure that the church was dedicated to the glory of God on the 13th of April 2002. He never looked back. He developed a principle of “Go back to school” for some of our youth and women who had given up hope on ever going to school. It was after the transfer of this man of God that another dynamic eloquent and visionary man of God was brought to the church. His coming brought about great revolution in our services and worship. He worked on all the departments to bring about a strong and viable church. It was through him the great revival took place and the church became more vibrant. It was when the church just started to enjoy this man of God; a pastor to the core who had enough time for his members, no other person but Rev. Sunday Humphrey Ezeh. He was transferred abruptly.
This church was just passing through the shock when another dynamic man of God was transferred and that was when the sectional headship was restored back to AG Felele. Rev. Vincent Ojukwu who was transferred to Felele church immediately he won the election as the District Secretary although he is still the currently the District Secretary in Oyo District and became the sectional leader of Felele section having 6 churches under his leadership. He is a man of wisdom and administrative dexterity which placed the church in high pedestal. The church came alive and was progressing. He fought and did all that could be done in repurchasing the land at the back of the church, did the survey, laid the foundation and started the construction to lintel level.
Then came an eloquent man of God with great integrity, doing the work of God with passion. He combines responsiveness with dynamism. Rev. Beloved Udeze was brought to the church when the church was on the verge of a revival. They were demoralized because of the incessant transfer of their pastor. He came in with his own mission and vision and he was able to change the face of the church. He completed the building of the parsonage, raised and reroofed the church and created the pastor/deacon’s office, fenced the church mounting gates to fit giving the church a super face lift. He comes daily with new ideas and new innovations which has shaped the church and moved both the church and the section forward. He is never tired. He is currently standing as the sectional leader of Felele section and a member of the Oyo District presbytery.
